Love That Never Fails

Ah, February—the month of love! A time when store shelves overflow with chocolates, roses, and heart-shaped everything. The world tells us that love is about grand gestures and perfect relationships, but let’s be honest—love in real life isn’t always a neatly wrapped box of chocolates. Sometimes, it looks more like burnt toast made with good intentions or forgiving someone who forgot an anniversary (again). Thankfully, the love of God is nothing like human love—it never fails, never fades, and never depends on how well we perform.

God’s love isn’t something we earn; it’s something we are freely given. Romans 8:38-39 reminds us that absolutely nothing—not our failures, not our doubts, not even our worst days—can separate us from the love of God. He doesn’t love us because we are worthy; He loves us because He is love. This is the kind of love that walks to the cross for us, the kind that patiently waits when we wander, and the kind that whispers, “You are mine,” even when we feel unlovable. Unlike the conditional love of the world, God’s love is eternal, unshakable, and unwavering.

In a world that often measures love by what we do, how we look, or how successful we are, it’s easy to wonder if we are “enough.” But the truth is, God’s love was never about us getting it right—it’s about Him always being faithful. No matter where we’ve been or what we’ve done, He never stops calling us back. Think about the prodigal son—he didn’t earn his father’s forgiveness, yet the father ran to meet him with open arms. That’s the heart of God toward us. Whether you’re feeling close to Him or struggling in the distance, His love remains the same.

So, this month, as love is celebrated in all its human forms, take a moment to rest in the greatest love of all—the love of Christ. You don’t have to chase it, prove yourself worthy of it, or worry about losing it. It’s already yours. It’s the kind of love that brings peace in chaos, joy in sorrow, and hope in uncertainty. And the best part? It’s forever.

“We love because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
